Cogsy vs Triple Whale
Triple Whale is an analytics and attribution platform; product cost is a setting inside it. It imports cost per item from Shopify, keeps a cost history timeline and can optionally write cost changes back to Shopify. Cogsy is only about cost, and goes further on it: sources, your own cost kinds, bundles and a missing-cost list.

Choose Triple Whale if
- You want ad attribution, incrementality testing and marketing measurement.

- You want dashboards, a SQL editor and automations.
Choose Cogsy if
- You want a tool whose whole job is keeping product cost right.
- You need several suppliers per variant or bundle costing.
- You do not need an analytics platform.
Using both
Triple Whale reads the cost per item held in Shopify. Keep that figure right with Cogsy, with the costs you choose rolled into it, and Triple Whale reports profit on a number you can trace.

How Triple Whale handles product cost
The App Store listing does not mention COGS. The vendor's help article says cost per item already entered in Shopify (or BigCommerce) is imported automatically, and costs can be edited per product or per variant under Settings > Cost Settings. Edits stay inside Triple Whale by default, but an optional 'Bi-Directional COGs' feature reflects changes made in Triple Whale back to Shopify or BigCommerce. A Cost History Timeline lets a merchant add a cost with the date it took effect, and the article says COGS values are saved over time so daily calculations use time-specific costs. A handling fee can be set per product or as a fixed fee per order; for bulk changes on Shopify the article points merchants to Shopify's own bulk editor, and CSV upload of COGS is described only for WooCommerce accounts.
What Triple Whale does that Cogsy does not
- Ad attribution (pixel, multi-touch, MMM, incrementality testing)
- AI operator and automations that act in ad accounts
- Net profit and expense metrics blended with marketing data
- Custom dashboards and SQL editor
- Cohort analysis and segmentation
- Optional bi-directional cost sync with Shopify
- Free plan

Questions
- Is Cogsy an alternative to Triple Whale?
- No. Triple Whale is a profit analytics app and Cogsy has no profit dashboard, ad spend or order reports. Cogsy manages the product cost that a profit app starts from, so the two are used together more often than one replaces the other.
- Can I use Cogsy and Triple Whale together?
- Triple Whale reads the cost per item held in Shopify. Keep that figure right with Cogsy, with the costs you choose rolled into it, and Triple Whale reports profit on a number you can trace.
- How much does Triple Whale cost?
- Free plan; paid plans at $219 and $749 a month, as shown on its Shopify App Store listing on 8 October 2026. Check the listing for current pricing.
- Does Triple Whale keep a history of cost changes?
- Yes, in its own way. Triple Whale's listing or help pages describe costs with dates or a cost history. Cogsy records every cost as a dated row with a source, and a row is never edited or deleted.
