Cogsy vs Lifetimely

Lifetimely is built around lifetime value, cohorts and P&L. Its cost settings are capable: a cost set in Lifetimely can have a start and end date and can be imported by CSV, and a default margin stands in where a product has no cost. Those costs live in Lifetimely. Cogsy keeps the cost record in one place and writes it to Shopify, where every tool can read it.

Choose Lifetimely if

  • You want LTV, cohort and CAC reporting.
  • You want a P&L with ad spend and custom reports.
  • You are content to estimate missing costs with a default margin.

Choose Cogsy if

  • You want missing costs listed and fixed, not estimated.
  • You want the corrected cost in Shopify itself, for Shopify's reports and other apps.
  • You need a cost per supplier, costs on top of the unit cost, or bundles.

Using both

Lifetimely reads the cost per item held in Shopify. Keep that figure right with Cogsy, with the costs you choose rolled into it, and Lifetimely reports profit on a number you can trace. A cost entered in Lifetimely overrides the Shopify one, so leave Lifetimely's own cost empty for products you manage in Cogsy.

How Lifetimely handles product cost

The help center describes four cost methods with a fixed priority: a cost set in Lifetimely overrides Shopify's cost per item (imported automatically), and a default COGS margin is used only when a product has no other cost. A Lifetimely cost can carry an optional start date and end date; with no dates it applies to the full order history, and with a start date it applies only to orders placed on or after that date. Costs can be imported by CSV with required columns SKU and product_cost and an optional shipping_cost column, with a column-matching step before 'Import data'. Products with no cost are not flagged; instead the default margin percentage is applied as a fallback estimate. Lifetimely costs can be cleared in bulk, after which the Shopify cost or default margin applies again.

What Lifetimely does that Cogsy does not

  • Customer lifetime value, predictive LTV and cohort analysis
  • Profit and loss reporting with ad spend and CAC
  • Custom reports and dashboards
  • Sales forecasting and benchmarks
  • Default margin fallback so reports are not overstated while costs are missing
  • Amazon data add-on
  • AI Profit Agent and MCP connector

Questions

Is Cogsy an alternative to Lifetimely?
No. Lifetimely is a profit analytics app and Cogsy has no profit dashboard, ad spend or order reports. Cogsy manages the product cost that a profit app starts from, so the two are used together more often than one replaces the other.
Can I use Cogsy and Lifetimely together?
Lifetimely reads the cost per item held in Shopify. Keep that figure right with Cogsy, with the costs you choose rolled into it, and Lifetimely reports profit on a number you can trace. A cost entered in Lifetimely overrides the Shopify one, so leave Lifetimely's own cost empty for products you manage in Cogsy.
How much does Lifetimely cost?
Free plan; paid plans from $49 to $299 a month, as shown on its Shopify App Store listing on 8 October 2026. Check the listing for current pricing.
Does Lifetimely keep a history of cost changes?
Yes, in its own way. Lifetimely's listing or help pages describe costs with dates or a cost history. Cogsy records every cost as a dated row with a source, and a row is never edited or deleted.
