Stocky alternatives

Stocky was Shopify's own app for purchase orders, stocktakes and an average unit cost. Shopify removed it from the App Store on 2 February 2026 and it is no longer available as of 31 August 2026. Shopify's built-in purchase orders replace the ordering side. They do not replace the costing side: Shopify says weighted-average costing and landed cost allocation need a third-party app.

Updated

Facts about each app are from its Shopify App Store listing and its own help pages as they read on 8 October 2026. We make Cogsy, which is listed last and described as plainly as the others.

Apps that cover what Shopify does not

  1. True COGS

Best for: weighted-average or FIFO cost from purchase order receipts, with a month-end entry for QuickBooks.

Records what was paid on each purchase order receipt or supplier invoice, including a share of freight and duty, and keeps Shopify's cost per item at the weighted-average or FIFO cost. It also produces inventory value, gross profit and a month-end entry for QuickBooks.

An inventory planning app that forecasts demand, recommends reorders and manages purchase orders, transfers and stock takes across locations and stores. It also tracks raw materials through bills of materials and positions itself as a Stocky replacement with automatic migration of suppliers and purchase orders.

  3. Landed Cost Receiving

Best for: spreading freight, duty and fees across a received shipment and writing a weighted-average cost.

A receiving-side costing app: when a transfer shipment is received in Shopify, the merchant enters invoice extras such as freight, duty, brokerage and insurance and the app spreads them across the received lines. After a preview it writes a new weighted-average cost per item to Shopify and logs the change.

An inventory and landed cost platform aimed at CPG and e-commerce brands. It manages purchase orders and receiving, reads supplier invoices sent by email and links them to purchase orders, allocates freight, duties and fees into a landed cost per unit, and syncs stock with Shopify.

  5. CostLedger

Best for: a moving-average cost from dated receipts, with inventory valuation, without touching Shopify's cost.

Records dated purchase receipts per variant in a ledger and shows a receipt-weighted (moving-average) cost timeline. Paid plans estimate monthly COGS, margins and inventory valuation; it states that it never overwrites Shopify's cost per item.

Where Cogsy fits

Cogsy does not replace Stocky's purchase orders, stocktakes or forecasts, and it does not calculate a weighted average. Shopify's built-in tools and the apps above cover those.

What Cogsy keeps is the part Shopify's cost per item has no room for: a dated history of each variant's cost, a cost from each supplier, freight, duty and other costs as separate lines on top, and bundles costed from their components. It writes one figure to Shopify, made of the parts you choose.

If you left Stocky and now enter costs by hand after each delivery, that is the job Cogsy is for.

App names are trademarks of their owners; Cogsy is not affiliated with any of them. If something here is out of date, write to support@cogsy.app and we will correct it.

Questions

Is Stocky still available?
No. Shopify's help centre says Stocky is no longer available as of 31 August 2026, with read-only access to export data for at least 90 days after that date. It was removed from the Shopify App Store on 2 February 2026.
What does Shopify recommend in place of Stocky?
Its built-in purchase orders, transfers, stock counts and suppliers in the Shopify admin. For weighted-average costing or landed cost allocation, Shopify says to use a third-party app.
Can I import my Stocky purchase orders into Shopify?
Shopify's migration guide says historical purchase orders cannot be imported into its native purchase orders. Export them from Stocky while it is still readable. Some apps, such as True COGS and Prediko, describe importing Stocky data themselves.
Does Shopify update cost per item when I receive a purchase order now?
No. Shopify says each variant has a single static cost per item that stays fixed when you receive a purchase order or transfer.
